In rural Lang Son, young children wake up very early to attend school. Some of them walk over an hour through the hilly terrain crossing small streams. The poorest students live the furthest away from our school. The children who live close to the school go home for lunch and a nap (which is the culture in Vietnam). However, the poorest students cannot go home so the school provides a place for them to nap. After naptime, they return to their classes for the afternoon and then walk over an hour home from school.
The school principal showed us the current beds, explaining the overcrowding and showing us the wobbly, rickety beds. We provided new beds, significantly improving the quality of life for these children! Donors like you have provided a better naptime for children who walk an hour each way to school!
